Not wanting to focus on just one genre, famed singer Johnny Mathis recorded songs that dabbled in pop, soul, blues, country music, and even disco. Drawing inspiration from singers like Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, Mathis went on to record hits including “When a Child Is Born”, “My Love For You”, and “Maria.” Receiving a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a spot in the Grammy Hall of Fame, the singer recently announced he was retiring from touring due to ongoing issues with his age and memory.

Turning 90 years old this coming September, Mathis continued to travel the country with his 2025 Voice of Romance Tour. With future performances canceled, the singer hoped to hit the stage for concerts on April 10th, April 26th, and May 10th. May 18th marked the last concert from Mathis at the Bergen PAC in Englewood, New Jersey. For fans who happened to purchase a ticket for dates after May 18th, his team noted they would receive a refund.
Sharing the news of his retirement on Facebook, the team behind Mathis wrote, “As many of you may already be aware, Johnny Mathis is approaching his 90th birthday this year. So, it’s with sincere regret that due to Mr. Mathis’ age and memory issues which have accelerated, we are announcing his retirement from touring and live concerts.”
